CPIM Detailed Scheduling and Planning Course Scheduled for 1/10/2012

Detailed Scheduling and Planning (DSP) course is coming to Cadence in Staunton!

 

Scope:  Emphasizing applied and system-level questions, DSP covers Raw Materials inventory planning & management, Material & Capacity Requirements Planning, Procurement, and Supplier Relationships.

Who Should Attend?  Supply Chain professionals, particularly those involved in ERP implementations, or anybody considering CPIM certification should take this course.  You will learn tactical functions of Production Planning, Purchasing, Logistics, Materials Handling, Stockrooms, and Operations Scheduling and will take home proven techniques to improve inventory accuracy, streamline replenishment orders, shorten cycle times, & improve Customer Service.

This course is recommended for operations staff and management seeking to attain their CPIM designation or those wanting professional skill development. According to a recent purchasing.com survey, professionals with APICS certifications earn an average of nine (9) percent more than their counterparts. Designees of the CPIM hold titles that include: Operations Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Purchasing Manager, Purchasing Agent, Planner, Buyer-Planner, Master Scheduler, Manufacturing Manager, Materials Manager, Plant Manager, Inventory/Logistics Manager.

Logistics:  This 30-hour course is being offered at Cadence, 4PM – 7PM.  Classes begin on January 10, 2012 and continue till March 13, 2012.  Students must bring highlighters and a calculator with square root function to every session. Curriculum:  There is substantial reading preparation in advance of every session, including the first.  Classes are highly interactive, with a combination of quizzes, grid exercises, videos, class discussions, role-playing games, Midterm test, and a Final test.  The ten sessions include:

2.   Inventory Management:  Customer Service

3.   Information used for Material Requirements Planning (MRP)

4.   MRP:  the Mechanics

5.   Using MRP Outputs

6.   The Detailed Capacity Planning Process

7.   Capacity Planning Mechanics

8.   Establishing Relationships with Suppliers

9.    Supplier Relationships and Procurement Plans

10. Review for the CPIM exam
