Master Planning of Resources is Coming to Cadence in Staunton!
Scope: Gain an in-depth understanding of the Demand Management, Master Planning, and Production Scheduling tasks necessary to achieve functional departmental integration and operating efficiencies in your organization. Enhancements for optimizing all aspects of the production Planning cycle are presented, as well as FGI Inventory Control and Distribution Resources Planning (DRP).
Who Should Attend? Professionals involved in ERP implementations, sales or marketing, buying/planning, design & engineering, distribution, finance, inventory management, production scheduling, shop supervision, information systems, and Supply Chain consulting will all gain knowledge of Best Practices from this module.
This course is recommended for operations staff and management seeking to attain their CPIM designation or those wanting professional skill development. According to a recent purchasing.com survey, professionals with APICS certifications earn an average of nine (9) percent more than their counterparts. Cost: This 27-hour course is being offered 4:00PM -7:00PM on Tuesdays, beginning October 11, 2011 and completing December 13, 2011, at the Cadence Facility in Staunton Va. About the Speakers:
Jenny Martin
Certified Purchasing Manager and Applied Purchasing Practitioner
Jenny has spent over 30 years in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management beginning her career with Del Monte Frozen Foods. At Del Monte Jenny was responsible for over 150 items with a shelf life of less than 10 days. She implemented MRP and customer visibility to production scheduled to minimize waste and maximize warehouse cooler space. Jenny joined Coors Brewing Company in Elkton, Va while the plant was still being built and implemented evaluated receipts and a vehicle control system to quickly receive and place materials in the Coors “floating” warehouse system. In 1998, Jenny became Purchasing & Warehouse Manager for Rocco Turkey products, responsible for 2 plants and successfully implemented a new Materials Management computerized system for Y2K. In 2002 Jenny became Director of Materials Manager for a 418 bed acute care hospital in Fredericksburg, VA, where she revamped the warehouse system, implemented JIT deliveries for hospital to minimize inventory and minimize warehousing space, while reducing costs. In 2004 Jenny became a Staff Purchasing Specialist responsible for Corporate IT Procurement for Philip Morris USA in Richmond, Va. She has extensive purchasing, inventory control, MRP and warehousing experience. She has spoken a the National ISM Convention, developed supplier scorecards, drafted and negotiated major contracts and taught C.P.M. and CPSM review classes in many areas of the East Coast.
Ryan Aleshevich
Ryan Aleshevich joined APICS in 2004 and just recently joined the Blue Ridge APICS board of directors in 2009. Ryan is currently employeed by Cadence, Inc. (formerly Specialty Blades) as Senior Account Manager and has been with the company for 17 years. Cadence companies manufacture custom and catalog systems and components for cutting, piercing, and fluid delivery in scientific, medical, and industrial applications. Cadence, Inc. consists of three companies: Speciatly Blades, IncisionTech and Cadence Science.
Ryan graduated from Bridgewater College with a BS in Computer Science and Mathematics. Ryan has experiance in Inventory management, Planning/MRP, Purchasing, Supplier management, Quality systems, Production Control and Scheduling. Ryan is in the process of earning his CPIM and has earned his ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certificate. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and woodworking.

You will learn tactical functions of Production Planning, Purchasing, Logistics, Materials Handling, Stockrooms, and Operations Scheduling and will take home proven techniques to improve inventory accuracy, streamline replenishment orders, shorten cycle times, & improve Customer Service.

Hershey Plant Tour Set for November 16, 2011!
Hershey Chocolate of Virginia welcomes the Blue Ridge Chapters of APICS & ISM for a special plant tour on November 16, 2011 at 6pm.
Located in Stuarts Draft, VA, the world famous candy maker occupies a 660,000 square-foot manufacturing facility producing major products such as Reese’s Piece’s, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Nutrageous, FastBreak, Whatchamacallit, Take-5, Filled Shapes, Filled Kisses, Mounds, Almond Joy, Canadian OH Henry and their newest item is Reese’s Mini Minis.

Please park in the employee parking lot and walk to the employee entrance. The guard will guide you from there.
Please note, no open toe shoes, sandals, high heels, or shorts are allowed in the facility. Jewelery must be removed before entering the plant. A light dinner of pizza and soft drinks will be served before the tour.
